Cannes Lions Short Film

In 2022, I shot and directed my first short film (dedicated to Colleen DeCourcy, creative legend and winner of the Lion of St. Mark’s award that year.) The official Cannes Lions’ social media accounts featured it as a highlight of the festival. Watch it below.

Fun facts:

  • We did not understand the assignment. At all. This was supposed to be a ~10 second film saying nice things to go in a three-minute montage.

  • The moral of this story is do not read instructions.

  • From concept to filming to editing to coloring to scoring, this took two days. It was a very busy two days.

  • It was 102 degrees out and I felt like I was going to die. I was not even the one in the lion suit. That’s how much we love you, Colleen.

  • Kathy fell out of a tree trying to roar at a squirrel in the lion suit. Not for the film. Just for fun.

Screenplay by the legendary Kathy Hepinstall Parks—the best writer, mentor, and friend I’ve ever known. Buy her books. Read her blog. The world is better for it.
